My First Joomla Web Site
I have been involved in our community softball program for over 10 years. I began watching my middle daughter Brooke play, then got asked to volunteer as a coach when my youngest daughter Hayley started playing, and even sponsored a couple of teams along the way. Both of my girls played school ball from 7th grade all the way through varsity. I got to know our varsity coach Rick Clolinger pretty well while Brooke was playing for him. With his and our athletic director's blessings, I built a web site for the entire Swartz Creek softball community.
We have information on the site for our youth summer recreational league (ages 7-18), the middle school (7th & 8th Grade), and the high school teams (Freshman, Junior Varsity, & Varsity). I pay for the web hosting and domain and do all of the maintenance including writing articles for every varsity game. It costs me $90 per year and was my first web site on a Simple Source Solutions' host. It is the least I can do for a community that my girls & I have been fortunate to be a part of.
This web site has become a news driven site with 5 years worth of articles. The template design has been updated every year, articles archived, new pages have been added & some removed, etc. All of the other Joomla web sites I've built have stemmed from this site as I learned the system. I also found that I could rapidly build cool web sites in far less time than by programming, that I could teach people to perform many of the basic maintenance tasks like creating/editing articles (pages), uploading pictures, changing contacts, etc., and that I could really help a lot of clubs, organizations, & small businesses get online and save them a bunch of money.
